Pulisic, 26, was immediately examined by AC Milan’s medical staff and replaced. Pulisic limped off the field of his own accord but is doubtful to feature in Saturday’s crucial game against Juventus.

“We need to improve our fitness level,” Milan coach Sergio Conceição said after the match. “Because my football needs intensity and something is missing at the moment.”

Pulisic missed most of December with a calf injury, but made a successful return to the team, scoring in both the semi-finals and final of the Italian Super Cup.

He has scored five goals and provided four assists for Milan in Serie A this season, tied for the team’s best in both categories.

Milan defeated Como 2-1 with goals from defender Theo Hernandez and forward Rafael Leão in the second half.
