Dimensions are important, especially when it comes to classic look and wrist comfort. The Cortina Chrono’s 316L stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter and 14.1 mm thick with a vintage-style ultra-domed sapphire glass. The distance between the lugs is 46mm, contributing to the comfortable wearing experience of the watch. The classic look is enhanced by a brilliant, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that mimics damage-resistant vintage acrylic.
Unlike the all-white Omega Speedmaster dial and subdials, the Cortina Chrono’s subdials are rendered in black, perfectly matching the hands, markers, and flat ceramic telemeter scale bezel. The complete look elevates the sports watch aesthetic to a new level of sophistication that belies the watch’s asking price. Two additional welcome touches include a 1956 emblem at 6 o’clock and “mechanical” lettering that mimics the script of the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera. It’s small enough that it doesn’t seem derivative, and it enriches the automotive spirit of this watch.
The hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova BGW9 and edged in black for excellent legibility across the cream-white dial and black subdials. Not all watches will fit exactly the length of the hands, but these will end in the correct position. The minute hand skims the split-seconds track, and the arrow hour hand ends just before the hour markers. The double chronograph hands with red tips stand out perfectly on the dial.
