Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams found himself in a strange situation last week when he was fooled by a typical catfishing email. Now the 23-year-old NFL star is speaking out on his side.
Williams talked about his catfishing experience on the January 15 episode of the St. Brown Podcast, featuring Amon-Ra and Ichnimius St. Brown. It all started when he received a message purportedly from Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
According to NBC, “I just wanted to let you know beforehand before it’s released to the media. I’m going to take the (head coaching) job. I’m very excited to work together in the future. It’s great. ”’ the text said, NBC reported. news. Williams asked the person if it was really Johnson, to which they replied, “We wanted you to be the first to know. We’ll tell you more after the season.” Williams responded excitedly, “Let’s get this off the ground, turn it around, and do something we haven’t done in years!”

Mr. Williams confessed that he had been deceived. “The writing felt like an official,” he told the St. Brown brothers, noting that it looked like a message he received from his coach in college. “It looked very professional.”
Williams realized he might be being pranked and started a FaceTime call with the sender to see who he was talking to. “I was trying not to flip out. I knew they were probably recording, so I was trying to stay calm, but when I hung up, I was frustrated,” he confessed.
When the naughty kids noticed, they told him he was a great quarterback and wished him luck. “‘We’re really happy to have a new head coach, though we don’t know if it’s Ben Johnson,'” they said. Shortly after the exchange, text messages and video calls began circulating online.
In the end, Williams gave credit where credit was due. “I’m not going to lie, it was a classic prank. It was a Grade A, S grade prank,” the quarterback admitted, adding that he has since been given a new jersey number.
The Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers earlier this month and finished the season with a 5-12 record. They have not yet announced who will be the next head coach.
