Volkswagen Id. Buzz Was Worth The Wait

Volkswagen ID. Buzz was worth the wait

Similarly, the ID.Buzz’s spacious and airy cabin is a real surprise. Although far from perfect, the interior design matches the glove-fresh exterior. The first thing you notice is the huge windshield that benefits from the EV powertrain. Although there is a considerable distance between the nose and the driver, it looks like you are inside a large, transparent bubble. Visibility is good. The ultra-modern dash layout provides optimal settings for the large 12.9-inch central infotainment screen. It looks great with the light colored faux wood dash insert, orange trim, straight vents that blend into the dark trim lines, and cream white steering wheel. The only oddity, more in terms of functionality than aesthetics, is the small 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster that peeks out above the steering column. Data and configuration capabilities are very limited.

Playful details include play/pause icons on the “gas” pedal and brake, sliding porthole side windows, windows, door cards and various Easter eggs on the seat base. The center storage console also features a removable divider that acts as an impromptu ice scraper. How original is it?

One important detail that was oddly omitted is the cup holder in the middle of the second row. That’s a huge omission for a family minivan. The fact that the second-row console is removable and adjustable pretty much makes up for the oversight. The rest of the cabin benefits from ample passenger space, the most open layout of any minivan, and styling that makes competitors in this segment look painfully outdated.
